Outlook 2016 oab not updating
Quite often all Administrators, even Exchange Administrators simply refer to the users they see in the Address section of Outlook casually as the GAL for ease of reference, but really more often than not, you are looking at the OAB.
However sometimes in large complex organisations we have a situation where a new joiner joins and their colleagues want to email them immediately, but they don’t appear in Outlook for them so they call the Helpdesk “Why isn’t Joe Bloggs in the GAL??
I assume it does this by searching for _ldap._loc SVR records in DNS or it does it via AD CAS Auto Discover foo that Im unaware of. Through this post, I found what looks to be the Offline Address Book .plist file here: /Users/isaachalvorson/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.
Im concerned that once my old DCs are phased-out that my Outlook users will no longer be able to do GAL lookups from AD because Outlook will be pointing to stale/deprecated servers. Office/Outlook/Outlook 15 Profiles/Main Profile/Caches/1 I tried quitting Outlook, and deleting the OABQuery Info.plist file as advised in that article.
Because of this, a new user may not be visible in the address book, or changes to a user’s name, address, etc.
may not be available even though such changes have been made in Active Directory.
The key issue here is that there are new users added to the directory but they are not showing up in outlook. This can occur even though no errors are present within the OAB rebuild process.
